What is the correct case back for a 1965-66 Speedmaster Professional? I have seen both the styles of case back on these watches. Is there a correct case back or do they come with either style? I purchased this watch in 1966 from an authorized dealer and has been in my possession ever since.
Pictures would help But: if you bought it in 1966 it will most likely be a caseback with bevel. A '66 purchased one will most likely be a 105.012-65 or 105.003-6x reference, those came with the bevelled caseback.
Added photos. Several years ago, I had the watch serviced by Omega in Switzerland. They changed the dial and hands during the service. Fortunately, they sent the pieces back. Have them safely stored.
And obviously the caseback too. So they sent back the dial and hands, which is good. Does this mean you no longer have the original caseback or bezel? if so that is unfortunate as each will be 4 figures to replace if you so desire.
Have you got a picture of the original dial? Even better, have you got the service paperwork showing the serial (and reference)?
I'd have to do some digging to find. But yes, I still have the service paperwork. All the old parts are in an envelope locked away for safe keeping.
So the original case-back was not returned? Just trying to understand the scenario and the motivation for the OP question.
