History: I purchased this watch at auction in Virginia, in December, 2021. I thought this beauty might pique the interest of my other half. She just hasn’t connected with it, so I’m moving it on to someone who will better appreciate it.

This watch was presented to employees of New York Life to celebrate 20 years of continuous employment and the full vesting of benefits. While the practice of receiving a gold watch for your dedication to an employer has largely been abandoned, this piece harkens back to a time when you could expect to work for the same company for your entire career, and that loyalty was duly rewarded.

Interestingly, the address of the jeweler stamped on the international guarantee is 51 Madison Ave, NYC, the address of the New York Life Building: "The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a National Historic Landmark in 1978 and was designated a city landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 2000."

The name and the date (April 1, 1966) engraved on the case back also match those on international guarantee, while the reference number is left blank.

Serial: 22M range, which places manufacture date circa 1965.

Dial: Original silver dial with radial sunburst and gold applied Omega logos and indices. Dial is very nearly perfect with minimal to no patina. A few minor blemishes are visible under macro but not apparent while wearing the watch. Of note are fibers visible under magnification, especially around 3 and 4; expect these can be removed during service. Very minor scratches at the extreme edge of the dial, visible with crystal removed. Though barely noticeable when worn, the second signature is somewhat imperfect, and rises ever so slightly to the right.

Indices: Excellent condition gold dial hardware, non-cardinal indices have intact tritium markers. Tritium markers have fantastic sculpted texture under magnification.

Hands: Very good condition, with some pitting on the seconds hand. Intact tritium insets.

Luminous: Tritium has taken on a lovely almond tone which matches throughout. Little glow, fades quickly after charge, completely dark within 25 seconds.

Case: Excellent condition. Original facets are still sharp with well defined edges throughout. Scuffs and scratches commensurate with age. The case definition indicates it has likely never been polished.

Measurements (Updated Dec 19, 2021):

- 34.0mm case
- 40.3mm lug-to-lug
- 9.8mm depth, including crystal
- 17.7mm lug width

Case Back: Hand engraved presentation inscription, serifs throughout, great attention to detail. Truly a lost art, not at all like a modern, machined engraving.

Crown: Original Omega, signed coarse-knurled crown.

Crystal: Original Omega, signed. Crystal had some minor scratches, so I hand polished it. Some finer scratches remain toward the edges.

Movement: Likely never serviced. Exceptional looking caliber 550, matching rose-gold-tone appearance throughout. Black polished screws look like they haven't been touched since they left the factory. Automatic bridge marked ‘Adjusted two (2) positions,' balance cock marked OXG. Serial matches guarantee.

Service: Watch keeps excellent time and power reserve is at least a day. Manipulating the crown for time setting feels very good with minimal play. Watch winds with a little resistance. Dan at Arlington Watch Works opened this watch for me for photos in December 2021. No service marks seen inside case back, assume it's never been serviced.

Strap: New 18mm matte black lamb strap with gold tone buckle. This watch also looks fantastic against an oxblood or cognac strap.

Photos: I’ve attempted to highlight all the defects I’m aware of in these pictures, showing the watch at its worst angles. Expect this watch to look truly exceptional in person and on your wrist.

Water Resistance: Assume this watch is not water resistant; a competent watchmaker could restore the original water resistance.

Box: Hefty silver plated box, with gold plated Omega logo, mirror polished sides, wooden insert, velour card, lined lid, and felt feet. Booklet was stored under the insert; both the booklet and insert have taken on the same curve. Small mark on the lining where the watch crown must have rested against the lid for many years. Some tarnish stripes on the top lid.

Scope: All-original presentation watch, original booklet with guarantee, original silver plated box. Includes black strap and buckle as shown, plus the twist/flex band as-found.

Shipping: Asking price includes USPS Priority Mail with signature confirmation to USA addresses. Outside USA, postage additional at cost. Watch is located in Washington, DC metro.

Payment: PayPal for friends (preferred) or Venmo. Other services negotiable.

Fantastic set! If I didn’t already have a gold Seamaster I’d be on this. Heck, I’m still tempted…

For reference, here's the NYLIC Seamaster DeVille in Toshio Masui's 'VOGA' collection. Looks to be about 10 years later than mine:
