    Hi everyone,

I am considering to make an offer on a vintage Pie Pan, but I have a question regarding if the watch is real or not.
The backplate has no stars, and I have not seen this before?

Looking forward to your feedback :)

I'd like to see a better photo but I think I can see the stars, however, they are worn down to almost nothing.

You have a strong eye! I can't see a thing.

FWIW I can see them too. As efauser says, they are worn down to almost nothing... Note that there are different medalions, so you need to (in some cases) know what reference you are looking at before deciding if a medalion is correct. None are without stars, however :D

I think I see the blemishes slightly when I tilt my monitor back to accentuate the contrast. (Either that or my brain is convincing myself I can!)

The reference number of the watch is 168.004.

Also, here are some more Photos.

I am trying to get new ones of the back case.

The stars are clear enough to me and I can't see anything wrong with the watch. That medallion wear wouldn't bother me if the price were right.

Looks correct, slightly polished and the crown has been replaced (only a cosmetic concern, the new one is much easier to use...). Shouldn't be too expensive as the .004 isn't that sought after. What is you bid?

$1400 would be rather expensive for this particular reference with a light dial, worn medallion and gold-capped case. Any idea of service history?

Current owner has had the watch for 1,5 years. He had his regular watchmaker check it out at purchase, and he was told that it did not need service at that time.

I believe you can find better examples for less money, if you take your time.

I'm not looking to rush a buy, but still think it would be a nice purchase, of course at the right price.

What would a fair price be?

Dificult to say. At $1400 I'd expect it to be in steel and preferably serviced too. Perhaps around $1000?
