Pretty solid result for a fairly rough looking (in a good way) Seamaster 300 today. £10,000 hammer so roughly £12,400 after fees depending on how ya bid.

https://bid.eastbristol.co.uk//auct...-details/c0ae766f-e027-4899-8e47-acef00dcd91b

"A vintage 1960's Omega Seamaster 300 ' Big Triangle ' having a stainless steel case with a black enamelled face with white baton numerals to the chapter ring, black enamelled rotating bezel, sea master emblem to the case back, on a stainless steel Omega 1506 strap, Omega symbol to crown. Movement marked 24 jewels, model no. 552, serial no. 24187180. Bracelet marked Omega No. 1506. Condition; general wear and tear, scratches and crazing to the face, bezel rotates correctly, winds correctly, ticking at time of cataloguing, bracelet and case has minor surface scratches and in need of a clean. Please note all watches are sold as untested."

Would have cleaned up pretty well and the hand could be relumed but what do you think of the result?

Yes I was watching that one, the auction house is across the road from my sister, so I had been hoping for an under the radar local pick up....wasn't to be and although pretty nice was expensive IMO.

Looks very barn-find but yea definitely not under the radar pricing, wonder if a member here got it in the end anyway?

Yeah it certainly had potential as the auction was a rather weird one.. no other watches to speak of. Very strong result. I liked the auctioneer!

Was also watching, this one will pretty sure turn out very well.

Has anyone seen before those darker dots on the positions of the pin holes on 6 and 12?

I assumed a bit of mould or lume loss from the pin holes. I have one very close in serial number that was in similar condition when found.

I think the price reflects just how hard it is to find a really nice one of these.

True.. but it's also a bit difficult to discern if it is really nice. The hand damage put me off of it though I know that is redeemable. It does have plenty of character though. Would love to know it's story.

Well TBH the pictures give me more than enough to go on that the watch is a good one with an attractive dial and a sharp case. The rest is gravy

I agree!

Mine is 24.197.267 and dated October 1966 to the UK. Same setup with the bracelet and end links.

People are going crazy for the big triangle, similar to DON vs DNN or Red vs White 1680, etc. It's hard to say how these trends get started, but once it does, everyone has to jump on the bandwagon.

I am Bristol based and this auction house does occasionally throw up some interesting watches. Unfortunately the days of snagging a bargain In a provincial auction house are gone due to Saleroom.com and the like
