This one popped up on my notifications today and I'm struggling to see past that bezel. I genuinely laughed. But as I looked closer the dial and hands looked right for a 165.024. The case isn't bad. I hate the chip on that one lug. I've seen that crown on these but more usually it's slightly domed ... which is, or are both, correct? I started thinking it was a joke and I'm ending up thinking it's got promise as a project. At £5000 it's too much but at £4000? Thoughts from the hive mind?
I think it's someone's first shot at rebuilding the insert ... if it is a first try, it's better than mine would be. But beyond that ... i'm starting to like it.
Of course the bezel is very wrong, but the dial is quite attractive and I suspect retains its original lume. Nice to have the security of the extract as well.
That's the first 165024 bezel, Marc...."A" type, not "B" The OP watch should look like my left one below (with type three bezel)....normal non subreference 165024 HF, which is in line with a january 1967 production. And yes the OP crown should be slimmer. Not a bad example besides that bezel.
Hand drag appears to be on dial. But overall, dial looks like in decent shape considering that a lot of these dials are ‘moldy’ with a greener lime patina.
Searching both the-saleroom and the auctioneer's own site, there doesn't seem to be a published result. We need to hope someone attended or saw the auction and can recall.
