For sale is my Rolex Submariner 5513. It has a 1.3 million serial number, dating the watch to 1965. Case: Very good case that has been sympathetically refinished in the past with wide chamfers as the watch would originally have had. Serial and reference numbers are clearly visible but reference is partially redacted in photos below. Caseback stamped 1.65. Correct for period Twinlock crown. Correct for period mk2 faded long 5 insert with intact pearl showing nice patina. There is some damage around the ’40’ area and a couple of other scratches – please see photos. Fitted with an aftermarket superdome crystal from Michael Young’s Classic Watch Repair. This is generally considered the closest approximation to the correct original crystal and in my opinion is preferable to a much flatter Rolex service crystal. Due to this crystal, the watch did not pass a pressure test during service, but I hope the new owner would not intend to take it diving anyway! Dial: Original gilt dial which has largely aged to matte, apart from some areas near the centre. There is some slight chipping at the very top of the dial. I have included a photo in harsh lighting to clearly show the detailed condition of the dial. All gilt script is perfectly intact and all lume plots are intact and ‘puffy’ with no cratering. The dial still glows when subjected to bright light which is correct for dials of this period. Hands are nicely-matching later replacements with non-glowing tritium. There are a couple of micro cracks in the hour hand segments but these are extremely difficult to see with the naked eye. Bracelet: Excellent 93150 Oyster bracelet with 580 end links that was lightly refinished during service. Very minimal stretch. Includes diver extension. Accessories: None Service history: 1520 movement serviced in April 2017 by The Old Watch Shop. Watch is keeping excellent time. Price is £11,000 via bank transfer or Paypal gift. Shipping to the UK and Europe included in this price. Will obtain quote for shipping elsewhere. More photos are available on request; just let me know what you’d like to see.
Love that gilt dial and the bezel insert!! These are becoming nearly impossible to find, at least authentic ones are that is, kind of like a 105.003 is today. GLWS.
