1964 Vintage watch

Hey guy's

My lovely dad is turning 60 in 10 day's, he's from 1964 and I would like to offer him a vintage watch.
The problem is that he has a huge wrist, around 20 cm and even a bigger hand so no one of my vintage watch with a stainless steel bracelet is ok for him because it doesn't pass his hand.

I was wondering which kind of watch could fit even with a leather bracelet.

I saw nice Navitimer or Top Time from this period but some 321 seamaster chonograph as well, it could be also a diver chrono from a micro brand.

Any thought or any member facing the same problem that could give me good advices ?

it sounds like something on a strap is in order. A Navitimer is going to be much bigger than a seamaster chronograph. There should be plenty of vintage chronographs that fit your needs.

A bracelet will be ok if you purchase extra links. Finding a good example of a highly collectible vintage to be delivered in 10 days could be a challenge.

Would go for a HEUER , Universal or Favre; (a Seiko 62 MAS ?)
Especially with a typicall cushion-case (carree arrondi) in steel.

Does he wear a watch now? Not all of us senior citizens like the huge watches. Would he like/wear vintage? I would stay away from something that needs expensive service/maintenance unless you know he would love it.

This would be nice not from 1964 but if you’re not fixated on that year you have more options.

He is coming with me when a I go to some watch fairs, he likes vintage.
He wear a little bit of everything: alpina sea strong, he had a navi when he was younger, a longines cal as 22, vintage tissot.

He likes my 145.024 but I don't no if I can add 3-4 extra links to a 1162 bracelet, I am already at maximum size I think.

You should be able to have more links added, the hard part may be sourcing them though!

I found a Bulova – 666 Feet 1973 Ghost Bezel Vintage Chronograph – Cal. Valjoux 7733, not really cushion but more arrondi as you say.

Since it’s a gift, one consideration might be whether it can be returned or exchanged if he’s not crazy about it.
Many ADs carry preowned , and will offer option to return or swap.
2 online shops that come to mind are Toppers Jewelers , and Exquisite Timepieces with large inventory of preowned
Anyway good luck and I must say a very thoughtful plan I’m sure your dad will be thrilled

Heuer could fit with pre-carrera, camaro and maybe autavia till 3.5k€.
I didn't find an Universal Geneve Chrono at this momeny but I love those chrono's maybe trying to go for a 90's model.

Orient has great looking automatic divers which are quite large, good quality and very well priced. Look on Ebay. do you and does he realize vintage watches are more high maintenance than new? Ie easier to break and not really water resistant?
