A most excellent post. I've been bitten by these little contraptions, and have two working (finally) examples. I am jealous of your bracelet!

Everything about the watch looks consistent. The "LeCoultre" brand name was only used in the US and it makes perfect sense that the bracelet was made by an American company, Jacoby-Bender (JB), for LeCoultre. The movement was made by Jaeger-LeCoultre and imported to the US by Longines-Wittnauer, which was a US company that assembled the various components in their NYC factory.

The case was likely made by another US contractor, although some steel watches had Swiss made cases. If a US made case, it will likely say something like, "Cased and Timed in the USA by LeCoultre".

Hope this helps,

Thanks gatorcpa..yes the Star watch co made thd case...apparently (whether it's true) these watches were mostly gold cased and its uncommon to have a stainless steel case.Import duties on stainless steel at the time in America made it unviable to send finished cases to the US.

Actually, the heavier tariffs were on solid gold cases and on the adjustments. Steel cases had rather low tariffs, but sometimes it just more sense to source locally.
