Hello all! So....I am hoping I could get some guidance in establishing the value of a watch that used to be my father's. What I know: It was bought either in '61 or '62. My father was a Peruvian Air Force pilot. My parents met in '63 and he had already bought it. It is functioning, and I just dropped it off at the local Omega boutique for Archive Extraction.
I've perused the internet, seen the articles on Fratello and Heinke, but I cannot get a sense on its current value. The Omega boutique guy told me, without seeing it and when I thought it didn't work, that a very conservative estimate would be over 50k USD.
The comeback has the seahorse, Speedmaster and the "FAP" stamped by Omega. It is like the watch from these articles: https://www.fratellowatches.com/speedmaster-ck2998-6-fap/ https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/photo-report-the-ultimate-omega-speedmaster-get-together As far as the movement, I believe it will be the 321, but I don't KNOW, as I've never had the watch opened.
Don’t let Omega do anything other than order the extract. If the extract checks out it’s worth big bucks for sure. I’m guessing it’s a 2998-5 or 6 Good luck!
Oh, the Omega sales guy emphatically told me not to let them do anything except archive extract. He flipped when I told him about it. I had no idea what it was. Gemini, is the 50k a very conservative estimate?
I do not have the pic of the inside of the bracelet, but....hang on I did look at it and searched so let me look at the browser history
I don’t know. The people to ask is @DB1983, Davidoff Brothers in Geneva. And the major auction houses.
