Thank you very much! This guide helped me a lot during my two year search for the 165.024. I managed to find one that ticked all the boxes for me :)

I found the article also very helpful Jack. These are beautiful watches but not nearly as well chronicled as the
    speedmasters. Thanks !

Thanks Jack. Your write-up has certainly been a go-to site in my quest to add the 165/166.024(s) to my collection.

If you wouldn't mind expanding your site to include the first generation 2913/14755/165.014 straight lug first generation variant SM300..............:)

I recently sourced both a 165.014-63 (straight lug) and a 165.024-63. I was surprised that the 165.014-63 had the newer SM300 dial but no TTs. It is tritium lume (checked with GC) but, similarly to the Speedie 105.002-62s and early 105.003-63, this tritium lume dial presumably was issued prior to the Swiss Law change requiring the TTs on the dial. Jack mentions these dials near pic 15 and 16 of his fine writeup.

Thanks gemini4 and if I could I would expand the site as you have suggested.

As mentioned at the start of my original SM300 post I am not an expert and the post was a result of the extensive research I did whilst searching for my 165.024. The SM300 was/is not as well documented as the Speedmaster and it would be great if in time an SM300 version of MWO was published.

When originally posted in 2012 SM300 information was very sketchy and all over the place but learning about a model is always part of the fun followed by the thrill of the chase and the ultimate purchase. I never really got into the earlier models so unfortunately cannot add to my original post.

I do enjoy the research and back in the late 1990s I was heavily into 1970s digital watches which ultimately resulted in a post relating to the Braun DW20 and DW30 models - check out following link:

    http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.php?371018-The-1970s-Braun-DW20-and-Braun-DW30-LCD-digital-watches

Unlike Omega watches which have a very widespread appeal the Braun's only have a cult following but are never the less interesting in their own right.
