Resurecting old thread.

Will movement (551) and dial from 14381 fit inside 14393 case? There are minor differences in 551 and 561size but wanted to check it out with you to be sure.

I believe the cases to be identical, except for the caseback, of course, so I don’t see why it shouldn’t fit.

I can tell you that a 551 with a 14381 dial slides right in a 14393 case - I’ve just tested it, happen to have the parts lying around. What I don’t currently have is the case clamps and screws to test that last bit.

Not sure what your plan is, but should you try to replace a case and use your 14381 caseback on the 14393 case let me utter a word of warning: different case makers produced ever so slightly different products. I’ve owned a 14393 case for a while for which I needed a different caseback. Took me three attempts to find one that fitted.

My plan is to recase the dial and movement from polished 14381 to nos 14393 case. There is also alternative, recase it in another 14381 with unolished case that you sold me few years ago 😁
