My house build is sucking up money like an industrial vacuum and I need to feed the beast.

For sale is a Speedmaster 2915-2 with extract of the archive showing a production date of 1959.
To save you scrolling down for the price, I’ll put it here: £18500 GBP. Yes, you read that right.

I’ve owned this for 10 or 15 years but it’s spent the majority of that time locked away.
Here’s a summary of my opinion on condition and correctness, but please check the photos and do your own due diligence.

The good:
It’s a nice looking watch, and a cool 50’s Speedmaster that you could wear ‘as is’ while you patiently wait for the correct parts to come along.
Comes with an extract from Omegas archives.
The movement looks to be in good condition. It sets and runs. The serial number is in the same range as several other 2915-2.
The mid case and case back, while polished and with marks, are not in bad shape and retain plenty of meat.
The hands are (I believe) correct.
Pushers are correct.
Crystal has the old logo.
7077 bracelet is in fair condition and dated 1959.
Original anti mag ‘dust’ cover.

The bad:
The biggy is the dial. While it looks quite attractive to me it is a later one. Original 2915 dials do come up for sale every now and then. Fitting an original dial would take this watch to a whole new level.
I suspect the hands are relumed to match the dial.
Crown is a later one.
Crystal has marks (should polish out.)
Bezel, as always, is later.
End links are wrong.
Movement definitely needs a service and the bottom pusher has never worked.

The ugly:
Hey, there’s nothing ugly about this watch.

I’m looking for £18500 GBP (net). Shipping at buyers expense, we can discuss the options.
This is probably worth more than that in parts, given the original case, movement, bracelet, pushers, dust cover, crystal etc… but I’d much rather think of it being used and enjoyed on someone’s wrist and hopefully improved over the years as well.
This might well be the only opportunity to avail yourself of this historic reference at this price.
Ideally I’d like an outright sale, but I will consider partial trades for sport watches if it’s tempting enough. An outright sale would take precedence though.
Thanks for looking.

Maybe Sell your Wife will do the trick ?
Hehehe..every time I find a watch that's "out of reach", that thought always pops up...
No wife = no bitching about my watches, one stone = two birds....?
:D
