Just back from servicing, but decided to move this one on to fund another purchase. The case has not been overly polished and still shows sharp edges and its original shapes. The caseback originally had a Longines design typical for the Silver Arrow models; this has worn off or has been brushed off. The caseback is correct, however. This watch still has the signed crown it came with from the factory. Often you'll see incorrect crowns on the Silver Arrow models, even if they are signed Longines (service crowns). This is the original part. The dial is in good state. There is a little oxidation on the hands, and there are diffuse spots on the dial (freckled dial). See photos. This dial is fully original and never retouched or otherwise altered. Beautifully domed, it has applied golden markers and logo. Signed Longines at 12 and Silver Arrow at 6. It has a very nice chrome chapter ring, difficult to photograph. The movement is the high quality Longines 23ZS. Manual winding with central seconds. Very robust and accurate movement. Has been freshly serviced in March 2018 so it is ready to go. Dimensions: 34mm diameter (not counting crown) 18mm lug width 41mm lug to lug 10mm thickness Historical records: Longines had this to say about the watch: Originally, the serial number 10'382'648 identifies a stainless steel wristwatch bearing the reference 9100 and part of the Silver Arrow collection. It is fitted with a Longines manually wound mechanical movement, caliber 23ZS. It was invoiced on 2 october 1959 to the company Ostersetzer, which was at that time our agent for Italy. Other information I currently only have one reference on OF: https://omegaforums.net/threads/mr-cairo-what-a-great-seller.72076/ I'll gladly provide refs from other sources or any other verification you may need! Wrist shot on 17.5 cm wrist. The watch comes with service receipt and on the leather strap pictured. Thanks for watching! For any question, offer or suggestion, or anything at all, don't hesitate to send me a message. What you see is what you get! Private sale with no returns, unless watch significantly not as described. N.B. the movement photo was taken before servicing.
Lovely watch. I like the sweet freckles. And as far as I remember the Silver Arrow was the first Longines model created with a name attached to it — in 1954. Per Stephanie Lachat’s book IIRC.
