The pictures are poor but the text under the logo does look at bit cramped so it could indeed be a redial but I would want to see more before declaring that as definitive personally. Here is my no date version, a 2846 from 1957. I think your price expectation is way over the top. An all original solid 18K SM might make maybe £1k-1500 depending on condition, any more and you are into gold Connie territory. Chronometer rated models make more but ours are not. And I am maybe being optimistic as an existing owner!

Even with the terrible photo, I'm at 99% on the redial based on the text position and the wonky "S". Add the overpolished case, and we're pretty close to melt. Yours is in a different category.

What I would suggest is keeping an eye out for a steel or gold-cap 2849 with a bad movement or a crummy case and buying it to do a dial transplant into your gold case as many of the steel and gold-cap versions have the same gold dial hardware and hands as the 18K models.

You will however find that many 2849s do have refinished dials like yours as it is one of the snap-back cases as opposed to screw-back and hence the water resistance doesn't tend to be quite as good, especially as the soft gold case can be deformed if opened by an amateur with a pocket knife or something over the years.

Here's my OJ2849 14K Gold Seamaster Pie-Pan Deluxe

How much is my watch worth? It was purchased from a reputable dealer, and I saw one just like it sell for $10k at an Antiquorum auction. I really value your expert opinions. Sorry about the bad photo ... stupid iPhone. Oh, and by the way, if anyone wants to buy it, please send me a message.

You asked for answers; answers were provided. You didn't like said answer so you started getting pissy, causing the extremely knowledgeable members--who happily answered your initial questions--to react negatively. Then you start calling them names. Being a douche will earn you no favors here.
You send like a Hillary supporter, spin the news how you see fit. I responded to others' pissy comments insinuating that I was here to dupe others into buying a watch [as if a board created by Omega aficionados is the place to do this]. I don't collect vintage Omegas nor do I wear them; I can do without the small pittance this watch will sell for and have had it for over 5 years. The point of the thread was to determine if I should treat it as special or toss it aside like any other $500 watch....it is gone as of today.

Dear reddit,

I posted pictures of a watch i inherited onto a supposedly well known watch forum. They were a bunch of boomer curmudgeons who pooh pooed the watch, dissed my phone, my photo taking abilities and my watchmaker's knowledge. AITA?

Prior to posting on the site, i researched the watch based on the internet & found that similar models sold for $4500. These watch nerds are telling me it's only worth around $1000. I would sell it if it was $4500, but at $1000, i think its got so much sentimental value that i can't do it. I suspect they are giving it a low valuation so they can buy it cheap off me.

I proudly resemble that remark.

However, I’ll match any Gen Z in snarkiness.

Just try me.

Why? Just beat #4 Auburn by 22 today.

Unless you’re an LSU fan, you don’t have too much to crow about. Even then, your QB and top two assistants coaches are gone.

So I’m a happy guy.

What’s your problem?

You need to realise that gobbing off about any political shit will not endear you to the membership or management. This is not the place to score petty points, regardless of your persuasion. Do one soft lad.

Oooh, hit too close to home eh? I actually prefer wearing this $50 watch more, large wrist presence, easy to read, easy to wind, and unlike yours, all original..
