Hi OF,

I found this Omega Seamaster Calendar and I wanted to have your feedback on it. Do you see any red flags ?
Some info :
Year : 1956
Caliber : 503
Case : Gold capped on SS
Serviced : 09/2019

The dial looks original too me with some patina and the overall condition of the watch seems good. The case may have been polished though.

Price around USD 800

Thanks in avance for your time and your thoughts

Looks like a decent watch to me - like you said the case has been a little polished and the crystal replaced, but otherwise a nice looking black dial. Crown is replaced and it should be a 2849.

Looking at the back of that case, I wonder if this would have any water resistance

Good point, I missed that and was just looking at the outside. I'm getting rusty...no pun intended 😟

Yes, I was wondering about that point. I didn't pay enough attention to the crown though (still learning)

I wouldn’t worry about the crown - replacements are available. The value of this watch is in the dial.. and I think $800 is okay. It’s an attractive watch.

I would try to get them down on price a little and keep your eye open for a replacement case. Good find

I wouldn't say the overall condition is good. Pitting on the case, rusty movement, damaged and rusted screws in the dial, missing lume plot on the dial, polished case. I wouldn't put too much weight on it being properly serviced either. Personally I wouldn't buy this watch.

As has been said it's all about the dial with this one and how much you want to pay for the pleasure of owning it. I like the combination of shield and shark tooth markers and have a similar Seamaster, but with date at 6, in my collection which gets quite a lot of wrist time.

The rest of the watch isn't great and I always find heavy case pitting extremely off putting. The bracelet which I don't think is Omega adds nothing to the value and if it really was serviced then I can't understand why that awful crown is still sitting on there.......

I think it's overpriced and I'd only buy it somewhere around E450-500 knowing it will probably take another E250-300 to bring it up to spec.....and that's without going the whole hug and upgrading the case
