CASE: 34mm steel case is in good condition for an object pushing 70 yrs. I'm emphatically not the original owner (I was -22 when it was made), so I have no idea of its history, but it appears to me not to have been polished—the bevels on the outer lug edges are usually the first to go when these cases see a wheel, but the ones on this case are still evident. The caseback etching is still discernable though *very* light. The crown is a clover-leaf, though I'm fairly sure it's a service model, given the logo. The crystal's got a cyclops at 3 and has the Omega symbol; given the markings in the caseback, this was clearly very loved by someone for a very long time. DIAL+HANDS: I suppose this one's fairly subjective. I'm confident everything's original on the dial—it's not been repainted or relumed in any way. I don't know the type of gold the hardware is--it seems pink or reddish to me, but I've never been good at figuring that stuff. There's no evidence of lume at the hour markers anymore; your guess is as good as mine. The H/M hands are gold and the lume seems complete, but it's darkened completely. The seconds hand: no idea. It seems equally plausible that it's been painted, or replaced, or that it's original and has simply brightened to this sort of rusty red from moisture at some point. I can't tell, and I don't care; it's clearly the correct shape/size for the reference, which is enough for me. MVMT: The 15M cal 503 was one of the earliest 50Xs made, and has been well cared for. It was just serviced by Glenn Dempsey of Dempsey Watches, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and is running perfectly.
