Came across this picture of my grandfather wearing his old Omega Seamaster. He told me that it was purchased in the Netherlands in 1955. This is the only picture I have. Can anyone identify which seamster reference it is? I would be very thankful

That is not a Seamaster. That is not an Omega. I doubt its even a 50’ies watch

Cool quest you have brought forward. If it would look better than what we can achieve from zooming in on the photo provided, can you post a photo that is zoomed in as much as possible

Looks older and similar to a CK2111 model based on the flat areas around the bezel

Sometimes selective memory can play tricks on the mind-especially to someone who wasn’t into a hobby. My father had told me he had a tube stereo receiver with 120w/channel back in the early 70’s. It was a solid state Marantz- yes they made high end tube equipment, but not during the 70’s. And the “120w” he was thinking about was the 120v printed above the power cord.

Your grandfather may have indeed had an Omega, or wanted one and his memory was that this was it...who knows.

This is so true - I really like grilling, and enjoy using my Weber Genesis S-330. When I was looking for it several years ago, and had decided on a Weber, the number of people who told me that they had a Weber, but it turned out to be a Charbroil or something they bought at Costco astounded me. To them it was just a grill, and they were not remembering correctly what they had in their backyard.

What printing process is that? It looks like a half tone but it’s not. It’s not photo paper.

Lol!!! I have seen this phenomena. I am a car guy, so I care- but if you were to ask 90% of the population what kind of tires are on their car -that they drive every day- they couldn’t tell you.

And to further the point- years ago, my step-father told me he had his uncle’s camera that he bought in Germany- he said it was top of the line-a Leica. Eventually he dug it out and it was a Kodak Retina.

    - and if I was to ask him today what kind of camera his uncle had- that he gave me- he would say it was a Leica. There is a name for this and I can’t remember what it is.

The Retina is very high quality and easily on par with contemporary Leicas. One is certainly not better than the other, just different.

Those Schneider lenses are certainly better than many of their contemporaries as well.

It is indeed a half-tone but there are many different styles of half-tone, from round dots to shaped dots to lines... and patterns, oh the many patterns!

We'd need to see a much closer/more magnified image.
