I enjoy reading this thread so much 😀
I thought that I had a great story about buying my Polerouter on its original GF bracelet from a Serbian antiques dealer for peanuts couple of years back, but now reading these amazing stories I realise that in fact it’s my story is what’s a peanut, at least compared to some of yours guys 👎

I was the $8K bidder. Timing of the auction killed me so I knew that I would fall short. I think ChicagoFrog said it best, there are no secrets on the Internet. It was a tiny auction house in a small Swedish town with nothing else but garage sale furniture for the other lots but I knew there would be buyers. Hammer was $16,000 but the buyer bid up to $20,000. A big number but I’m still sick about it. I have never seen another one for sale. Limited quantity and tremendous sentimental value to the owners means a long wait before you’ll see another one offered. It’s a true grail for many and in the true sense of the term not a “hey, look what I just bought!!” definition. Even at $20,000 I believe you would have seen a higher sale price in a more traditional, larger auction format.

It’s still great to see these SAS Polarouters turn up especially with the original connection like the OP. It’s so hard to come across any. Many thanks to HissigP for posting. It’s a beauty and yes, a grail. Glad to hear he plans to keep this in the family.

I was not aware of this auction until today as I have not been very active within the watch hobby for quite a while. This gets me thinking about my SAS Polarouter de Luxe. I might get some weeks of scandalous living out of this watch after all. Who would have thought it three-four years ago. I wonder what an estimate at one of the "big" auction houses would be?

Potentially VERY scandalous living. However, I do not think I can handle you selling this - I have only now recovered from the boat, and I do not want to tell you what the therapy has cost. Really, I should send you the bill. Certainly, I will if you sell this. Consider that in your calculation of return on investment.

I was thinking you, me and your brother - sort of like his last party:

Would that be therapy enough for you?

That might be the funniest I have read here!
