I bought my first Omega last week, and need some assistance. I bought the watch from a thrift store believe it or not. It needs new crystal, but I have had no luck at all. I've searched using the numbers on the case back, movement and serial number with no success. After some research I find the the watch is a 1954 Omega 283 movement, 2760-8SC case back. I posted some photos hopung someone can help me out. Thank you in advance!

Easiest thing for you to do is take it to a watchmaker, you're going to need to have it installed anyway. Not likely to find one using the reference number (2760) for something this old (ca 1954).

FWIW: The marker at 8 o'clock is missing, but I guess you already know about that.

These crystals are plexi that are press fitted in the bezel. I am not sure you can find an Omega crystal for this ref, and a generic one will do the job as well - please note that it is not at all true for all Omega watches!

You only need the exact size of the ring of the bezel - or of the old crustal - and to calculate the proper space for the hands.

Simple to do when you know what to do, but in your case I would bring your watch to a watchmaker!
