I have an automatic with a serial number that dates it to 1952. It has a Spiegel flex band. It runs but I can’t move the crown. Does this have any value?? Is this the original band?

I don’t think that is the original bracelet, although it is possible that it was purchased with the watch. There is no way to know for sure.

From your description, it sounds like the watch needs service, which is going to cost about what it is worth. Maybe $200 or so, assuming the case is gold plated or gold filled.

Your watch looks lovely.

The dial is in great condition which is a plus. Ditto the case, winder and box. Given the age of your watch, I suspect parts shouldn’t be a problem since Tissot and Omega were linked back then. I can’t discern the movement number but I expect there’s an Omega equivalent.

So, for value, I suggest you look on eBay at the completed/sold listings and add a percentage to the price given your condition and assuming it is serviced although the value may not recoup the cost of the service.

In the UK, I’d expect to pay about £120 plus parts and postage for a service.

Hello @ebwalker and welcome to the forum! You have a very nice Tissot dress watch with a relatively uncommon "chevron" dial, its original signed crown, and very likely the original box. The grooves in these textured dials tend to get dirty over time but yours looks nice and clean, suggesting that it was not worn often. The automatic movement is robust and reliable and should be easily serviced by any independent watchmaker who is used to dealing with vintage watches. If you want to sell it, these watches fetch about $200 at auction. If you want to keep it, it would probably cost about $200-250 (more or less, depending on where you live) for a basic clean-oil-adjust service.

Some other examples of vintage Tissot can be seen in this thread:

Edit: Those signed crowns are quite rare so if you decide to keep the watch, make sure you keep (or reuse) the original crown
