A happy new year to all, and my watch consolidation efforts mean that this is on the chopping block. I am asking $100USD via PayPal family and friends including shipping overseas from Australia. The Seiko Unique was the Daini division's offering and was made during the time that the Suwa division's Marvel was being sold. This is a lovely small dress watch, at 31mm across and 33mm with original unsigned crown. The 38mm lug-to-lug size though means that it does wear slightly bigger than what the case size suggests. For reference my wrists are 6.5" (16.5cm.) The watch has light marks from use and some scratches on the crystal, as well as several marks on the dial, which can be seen at 7 o clock and at 4 o clock. The dial otherwise is very clean and has a very fine railroad track. It is both simple and elegant at the same time. It comes on a lightly used 16mm black leather strap. The caseback has a small dent just underneath the text on the left side. In looking at other Unique models I do not believe that the case or caseback have been polished at any point. The 15 jewel Seikosha movement appears clean and has kept reasonable time over the several occasions I have worn the watch. Initially I believed that this was an in house movement however @Canuck has highlighted below that it is most likely a copy of the ETA 1080. There is no service history so please do consider one if you will wear the watch on a daily basis. I have seller and buyer references here, the reddit /watchexchange page as well as 100% seller feedback on eBay. Please don't hesitate to drop me a PM if you have any questions :>
Looks to me like a copy of the Swiss ETA 1080 movement as shown in this image from the Ranfft archive. This movement was a popular one to copy. Many Japanese brands used it, as well as some brand names of Swiss origin, for use in their entry level (read inexpensive) models.
