·Good evening everybody,
I’m looking for a caretaker for this old American lady. She’s turning 70 next year and comes with a fantastic honeycomb dial and Breguet numerals. 😀
It’s a G6250 reference, very similar to the 2577. Other attributes of these US-only refs are the Swiss instead of a full Swiss Made, the fact that it’s gold-filled (meaning the caseback is also gold), 17.5mm lug width and the OXG marking on the movement.
The Watch
Omega Seamaster
Reference: G6250
Movement: cal. 354 bumper automatic
Serial: 13719144
Year: 1953
Case: 34,5mm, 14k gold-filled
Dial: original crème-colored honeycomb with applied 12-3-6-9 Breguet numerals and Omega logo.
Strap: black leather, not quite from the 50s but also an older product. Happy to offer alternatives should you prefer something else.
Condition
This is a well-worn, all-original, honest example in a less common configuration.
Dial & Hands: Original crème-colored dial in very good condition, definitely the party piece of the watch – it’s just pristine. The hands are in good shape with some patina, it’s lume has aged to a dark brown.
Case: Original 34,5mm 14k gold-filled case in used condition. It’s definitely been worn, so there are small scratches, dings and imperfections all-around, and although it fully shows the bevel around the bezel, the beefy lugs and the “14k gold-filled L&K” marking on the caseback, it’s definitely seen polishing. The roughest part is the back of the watch: There’s some pitting evident on parts of the caseback, small scratches, and it must’ve been on a bracelet for a long time, es the inside and the bottom of the lugs show. It’s definitely well-worn, but in combination with the awesome dial I’d say it can still be a lot of fun to have it on the wrist.
Crown: Original Omega crown in the right clover style for the reference and the correct flat foot logo. It’s gold-cap has worn off at the top. Should you wish to replace it by an identical NOS example, I can offer one.
Crystal: Original Omega-plexi with the etched Omega-logo in the middle. Shows some scratches/spots.
Movement: Original cal. 354. Sets and winds smoothly and runs well, service history is unknown though. The movement itself looks clean, but the regulator is at max, which shows it’s been adjusted but not properly serviced recently. So, as always, having that done is recommended prior to regular use.
Strap: Comes on the vintage black leather strap, as depicted. I should have a few other colors/straps, should you wish for something else.
