1950s Omega Constellation ref. 2782 - SS case, YG furniture, BoR available - 1600€

I’m parting with a nice 1950s bumper Constellation, reference 2782. A classic configuration with an eggshell-white dial, gold furniture, sharp stainless steel case:



The Watch

Year: ca. 1954
Case: 34.5mm, stainless steel
Dial: Original white dial with gold furniture and cross hairs.
Strap: Included is the new, black leather strap shown below; the depicted and period-correct 5-row Omega BoR bracelet 1502/11 is available for 200€, buyer’s choice.



Condition

Sharp & honest.

Dial & Hands: The original dial has retained it’s white color well, against lighter backgrounds it appears with a hint of eggshell. The dial is in good shape overall, there are very small/light discolorations, most notably directly right of the center, not noticeable on the wrist and only visible when the hands are in a certain position. I’ll include a picture below to show it. All the writing is fully intact, “Chronometre” with the French “-re”-spelling, as you would expect from a Constellation of the first half of the 50s. Hands and indices are yellow gold and also in great shape. The lume has aged to an attractive light brown and is intact.

Case: Original 34.5mm stainless steel case is sharp, with well-preserved edges on the lugs and the distinct bevel on the bezel. Minor scratches everywhere, as expected from an almost 70 year old watch that certainly hasn’t seen significant polishing. The case back is engraved, if your name is F. Krejci let me know and I’ll celebrate the coincidence by paying for shipping 😁 The medallion shows all stars, has been polished slightly though. The brushing around it can still be seen regardless, and both waterproof and Constellation writing on the case back are also present. Remarkably, it doesn’t have any “idiot marks” from failed opening attempts.

Crown: Original Omega service crown, correct thick decagonal style.

Crystal: Generic crystal in good condition.

Movement: Original cal. 354 bumper automatic. The movement is in beautiful condition, clean, all original. It winds smoothly, both manually and automatically and works fine. Setting the time is slightly stiffer than the winding, as the crown sits tightly on the stem. The service history is unknown.



Strap: I’ll include the black leather strap. Optionally, the buyer can have the period-correct 5-row BoR seen in most pics that suits the watch perfectly.
