Hi all.
I have joined this forum in the hope I might get some help in identifying I
I was given it by my father in law many years ago and I actually was never sure it it was legit or not.
However I have been to Hugh Rice jewellers today and they've had a quick look and confirmed it as real.
They say it is a genuine Omega Seamaster Calibre 420 1950s 60s. But that's it other than it needs an oil and service.
Any further info would be very much appreciated.

Manyv thanks for that Don.
Being a complete novice what would be the easiest way to remove the back in order to check the details. Obviously without damaging/scratching the case.

Also do you have any other info about the watch that may help.

It has a snap back caseback, so removing it is a bit harder than with a screwback.
If you are technically competent, you can remove the bracelet to give you a clear area to work with.
Examine the edge of the case on all sides with a decent magnifier/loupe, there should be a small gap in the seam, usually opposite the crown.

Use a fine blade and work into the gap (groove) with a lateral seesaw motion. The idea is to use the blade as a wedge, NOT a lever!
You will see the gap get bigger, then you can upgrade to a thicker blade and repeat.

As I said, if you are not confident, go to a watchmaker (NOT a jeweller) and ave them do it.
