Can anyone fill me on this? Bought it in a box lot and can't seem to find one quite like it anywhere else
Welcome, The "works", (the movement) appear to be an Omega caliber 300 as seen in this image from Dr. Roland Ranfft's watch movement archive. http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&&2uswk&Omega_300 The case is unusual, with what appears to be separate "hooded" lugs with bar for affixing a strap with open ends, or bracelet. The case is marked 9 karat which is typically English, but not so obvious is the absence of either English or Swiss hallmarks! The watch looks to me to be possibly mid to later 1940s in style. Aside from the above, what did you want to know?
Yes, probably an Englysh case. It has the old Omega logo you can also find in French case - but not in 9k, which is tipical of English cases. Nice watch!
I bought a 9kt one from Australia. Most countries don't believe in 9kt gold as it falls below the minimum of 10kt DON
Did not know about the Australian case, thanks for the info. France does not believe in less than 18k gold! Actually, there are more other metals than gold in "gold" when it is less than 12k...
