Hi Guys:

I bought this watch recently through a recommendation of a friend. 1944 30T2 35MM. I believe the ref # is 2317/7 or 3217/7. The picture of the inside of the case I have is a bit blurry and I don't remember exactly. The watch was opened and pictures were taken in front of me. The movement and serial number look solid. The face does has some wear and tear but not sure how much work was done to it. The band is not original and the back was polished. Does anyone have any info on this or any thoughts. I don't care too much about the vintage value. I really like the watch and the vintage year is meaningful so i am pretty excited about it. Any and all info would be helpful.

Did your friend tell you the dial was original?

It's not.
Do you have more info? Would like to learn more. Never gotten into vintage before. Completely new to this.

Hello @OmegaPike and welcome to the forum!
Vintage watch collectors prize originality and condition above all else. Unfortunately, the dial on your watch was repainted some time ago, and vintage collectors avoid these watches like the plague.
If you're interested in collecting vintage watches as a hobby, I would advise you to return this watch and get your money back. Then, start afresh by reading the many threads on this forum. If you want to learn the basics, this thread is a great place to start:
Peruse this thread to see what other collectors wear everyday:
Take some time to look for the watches that appeal to you. When you're ready to dive in, read this thread on how to spot a redial:
Finally, before you buy anything, get some pictures of the watch you're interested in, start your own thread and ask the forum for advice! Please be polite and you'll get lots of comments. We hope you'll stick around, ask questions, and have some fun with us in this silly hobby of ours.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Appreciate the reading material.

Like I said in my post. Not interested in the vintage value. I like the movement and I like the way it looks. So no need to return it.
