1942 Omega

Hi
I wanted to introduce myself. New to the forum. I am the owner of a couple of older Omegas that I bought over the last year or so.

First was a 1974 Geneve, which I love, and spent the last year tracking down a decent original gold plated bracelet for. That is now ready to go in for a proper service, although it already keeps good time. There seems to be a lot of info about these out there, and I’m really happy with it. Great size, feels good.

Second is what I believe to be a 1942 Omega, which I bought a year ago for my father. It was keeping very poor time so we had it serviced thoroughly. The watchmaker tells me it has a rare movement which was difficult to find parts for, so he did a manful job restoring the original parts where necessary. I don’t have the servicing paperwork with me but it may be it has more relevant info on there.

Anyway, I’m really struggling to find much info on 1940s Omegas, so I was wondering if anyone would have any insights or information on this type of watch?

with thanks
Al

Welcome to the forum.

If the 1940s watch you're inquiring about is the one in the photos I have serious doubts about it being from that era.
The case is commonly referred to as a "C" case and didn't arrive until the 1960s.
The hands also appear to be incorrect, and based on the photos, I think the dial has been re-painted.

The only way to be sure is provide clear pictures of the movement and inside of the caseback.

Please see here for more guidance.

Hmmm. Not even close to 1940’s or even original. The hands and repainted dial were well out of date by the time that case was made. Sorry, thanks for playing😉

I don't recall a "C" case Omega with sub seconds. I'm curious to see what's inside.
