Hi OF members

I came across this vintage Omega for sale the other day and would be grateful for the advice of any OF members who are able to help.

Please forgive the quality of the photographs as they are not very good and I know I should have taken one of the movement, but here goes.

I understand the watch is probably 1940's, it has a solid gold case as I understand. It has a blued second hand which I believe is correct for the period. However, I do not know whether the dial is original or has been refinished etc. I have no reason to believe either way. There is some spotting on the dial. I was also trying to focus hard on the font. The "OMEGA" has a pointed "A" which I am unsure about as a lot of the "A's" appear to have a flat top. I have bought and sold numerous watches from this person and he is trustworthy although like me he is not an Omega expert.

I would be very grateful for any thoughts on the watch to assist me with deciding whether to go ahead and purchase. It will be serviced by Omega before the sale (not sure if that's a good thing!).

Can't speak much to the watch itself and better pictures would help. But at a glance, the dial looks refinished to me. The logo doesn't match anything I've seen before. And while printing back then of course wasn't perfect, the applied numerals overlap the minute trap too much in my opinion.

looks like a model with R17.8 SC inside. From what I see, I would say redial..

And non-Omega case. Probably thinner gold than a Swiss Omega case, too.

Run away! I don’t even want to see the movement on this one.

As the general consensus is a red flag, I’ll take that on board. I’m glad I followed my gut instinct and didn’t buy straight away.

Thanks for the helpful responses, really appreciate each one.
