Had some questions about this movement I just bought that didn’t come with a case.

It seems like this ring around the movement is screwed onto the dial as a part of a dial assembly. But I could be wrong.

I believe this is a Movado Cal 75, so if anyone has experience with this movement or just have any information on this ring around the movement any information would help!

I’m trying to see if I can figure out the case that would fit this watch or if I can just take the ring off and just have the movement and dial fit into a loaner case.

The movement ring is considered part of the case. This movement is rather small for a man’s watch, so any case that was designed to use this movement would have its own ring.

There is no guarantee that a different case would have the same size dial as yours. This is a common problem when someone buys a movement/dial combo from a scrapped gold watch.

Yeah I assumed that the ring was a part of the case. But my only question is o haven’t seen these rings screw in directly to the back of the dial shown in the photo. Could this possibly be a part of a dial assembly that was made to fit around the movement?

You’d need to bring it to a watchmaker to find out for sure, but my guess is no, the ring does not attach directly to the dial.

Dials generally have “feet”, which are small metal posts that are secured by screws at the edges of the movement.

For comparison my 38mm Movado with Cal. 75 and the movement ring (around 1945)

Do not think, that the ring screws have contact to the dial in your case.
Possibly, the screws only should hold the ring on place?

Yes that may be a possibility. Also i've noticed on some cal 75, cal 157, and cal 159 movements that the 4th wheel sits above the train bridge with what I believe is a friction bar on the small center wheel and others do not have the bar and have the 4th wheel under the trai bridge. Have you been able to find those parts for sale anywhere online? Ive been trying to source them since the my 4th wheel and that bar are slightly bent.
