1938 Omega CK374 Sector dial pocket watch in Steel

Today I am offering not a wristwatch but a pocket watch! This one is from 1938 and is in particularly good collector grade condition!



I don't very often buy pocket watches, but on rare occasions I have found myself drawn to some of the particularly nice ones like this from the 1930s and 40s. This is primarily because, they offer a greater opportunity to buy some stunning watches, with beautiful dials, that would be maybe 3 or even 4 times more expensive in wristwatch format (and in equivalent condition). Given the spectacular condition of this example I couldn't resist. I am selling now as I have had to raise some funds, and I am sure that whoever buys it will be very happy.

Dial: For an 88 year old watch the dial is in remarkable shape, it is original first and foremost, and is in exceptional condition. The dial is silver in colour and features a simple sector design, which is as elegant as it is legible. The blued hands stand out with striking brilliance, reflecting light and further increasing both the beauty of the piece and its legibility. The hands are known as plume hands and they are all original. The sub second dial is clearly a defining factor of this design, situated at 6 o'clock and it beautifully complete the harmonious design whilst giving a nod to the past.

Case: The stainless steel case is in nice shape and measures 48.8mm without crown. It appears to be unpolished and has retained it's chamfers and edges that would have had out of the factory 88 years ago. It has a snapback case with the original, attractive stylised art deco design on the rear. The crown appear to be original. There are some age related scratches and marks but it is in general very nice.

Movement: The movement is a calibre 38.5 LT1 and it is running very well. I have not had it serviced during my ownership as it does not show any issues that concern me, but I offer no guarantees on accuracy. It is up to the buyers discretion if they wish to service it upon receipt of the watch. I have not experienced anything that concerns me, but as with all second hand watches, I recommend that they are serviced if you want peace of mind.
