I bought a little gold watch off ebay a few years ago that was a presentation piece as it was engraved on the back. The dial had the name Jean Louis Roehrich and it was a three sub register watch. When I got around to removing the back cover it said 18k 0.750 & numbers 7055 & 683486 Universal Geneve. The movement was marked Universal Geneve, RXG & 281. It was a small fat watch measuring 30mm x 12mm w/crystal. I did find out that Jean Louis Roehrich was an American and member #19 in the NAWCC. Evidently he was known for putting Henry Ford's watch collection together and had his own jewelry store in NYC. I contacted Universal Geneve about the watch and they told me it was from the first year of production of this movement. Roehrich used his own name on some quality pieces that he sold out of his store, Patek was another, so he evidently had this made for his business by UG. A few years after I bought the watch I decided to sell it and it was purchased by Universal Geneve in Switzerland. They wanted it for their collection as they didn't have a Compax from the first year of production. I'm trying to find the pics of the watch I have somewhere and will post them if I do.

Great story Paul, and I don't think I'm the only one who's eager for pics.

And where might the UG factory collection be housed today? It would certainly be worth seeing. Anyone know?

I haven't found my original pictures. I'm afraid they might have been on my old PC that fried last year. I did send them to a site maintained about the original owner. You can see that link here (scroll down for pics of the watch): http://pantonov.com/thoughts/assen_jordanoff.php

Also GTO is gone too but pic here: http://www.MyEasyPics.com/is.php?i=1068436&img=img123.jpg

On another note, I'm going to try and contact UG again to see if they might be interested in this watch which was owned by the Navy officer that was on the submarine that rescued George H.W. Bush in 1944.
