18K hidden crown Constellation - does it look OK to you?

Hi alle,

Bought it a couple a month ago. Seller wasnt able to open it, but I took the chance anyway. Box is so so, no certificate, original bill of sale (December 8, 1965). It came with original leather band. My local vintage watch guy gave it a service + a new Omega leather band. No polishing. He was pretty impressed about it and was sure, it hasn’t been messed with. After following you guys here for a while, seeing time after time, what you can determine from just a few pics, I’d like to hear, if you agree with him? 🤔 Obviously I hope you agree with him (dial looks almost too good for all these years, but what do I know........). If not, be gently, please😉

Looks perfectly fine to me. It is not at all unheard of to have a nice dial on a good condition watches such as this.

Hi Pahawi,
Congrats to this nice Connie.
I think , it`s an original Pie Pan dial in very good condition.
Also the movement.
The caseback shows, that it has not been very much polished.
The conturs are crisp, the 8 stars of the medaillon can be seen clearly.
The Ref. 168.004/14 in the inner caseback shows, that those gold hidden crown cases were also taken for the de Luxe version with solid gold dial(168.014).
The strap with the "Kehrer Buckle" was often used for the de Ville models. I don`t know, that they fitted also Connies.
The papers and the original bill are a plus also.
Very nice model, enjoy it!👍

Unpolished hidden crown connie with very clean dial and movement. Box and papers are a bonus. I think you did very well with this one.

Congrats on your successful vintage purchase. A very nice hidden crown all gold Connie Pie Pan. I was not that lucky in my first few purchase.

Lovely watch. I have gold capped version very close to yours ( 24,440, xxx). Yours is also one of the 100,000 consecutive movement series that passed COSC accreditation - more details are on Desmond's fantastic website

I have the reference 168.014 with golden dial and a 24461xxx movement. Also one of the consecutive 100,000 😀

As mentioned earlier, the certificate is missing in the envelope - there’s no chance Omega is holding records of some kind on those consecutives and offer certificates based from it?

No, but if you read Desmond's article, there are letters to Omega certifying the serial numbers of the movements tested.

That should be sufficient for provenance, I think.
