Just a couple quick photos. As always, the photos do not do it justice. Off for watch guy's evaluation & most likely service in the days ahead. If you look real close at the dial's center, you can see a faint image of the floating Omega logo. IMG_0469.JPG IMG_0467.JPG

Nice one! Make sure you don't have your watch guy polish the case - that is one of the merits of this watch.

Thanks, I'm in ::love:: Thanks also to my many forum mentors. Yes, I will be sure to tell my watch guy not to polish it. So far, I've only made that mistake once and unfortunately crisp edged lugs became rounded a bit too much.

Splendid! Glorious in that opulent way only a gold-case, gold-dial watch can be

Now see THAT is what I'm talking about. This one will replace some of the lesser watches, so maybe consider flipping some of the De Villes and other pieces that are less special and keep moving forward rather than backward. You won't find yourself wearing those cheaper pieces now that you have this and a couple of nice pie pans to choose from, not to mention that waffle dial

It is a lovely watch and you will be proud of it.

Virtually all the Constellations are so attractive and they will surely melt one's heart. However to get a good and genuine factory-original example is becoming more and more difficult, as each day passes. There are too many with redone dials, frankens and fakes, around.

    Thank-you.

Thank you for your kind words and for imparting wisdom to the ever growing scarcity to the vintage originals that are becoming fewer and further between redone dials, frankens and fakes, sadly I too know this is true. This is the reason I rely on the knowledge and expertise found abundantly and freely on this forum. My newbie status is real and evident throughout several threads found on this forum. However, I'm always willing to learn, so that I may avoid some of the missteps experienced by even the most discerning collector.

Yes it is a cal. 551. The serial number is 17xxxxx. 1959, according to the database.

I know I will in due time just that I don't wear much gold for now. But when the time comes, it will be a de luxe piepan.:D

Thanks, I owe my decision, in part, to you and others who weighed in during my decision making process. It's an excellent addition to any collection. I can see why you love yours. I'm certainly in ::love:: with mine.
