·My local jeweler almost daily takes in gold and jewelry that families want to turn into cash, particularly with the current price of gold. Here and there watches come in as well. One batch had a small, square Omega in a gold filled pressfit case. It wasn't much to look at, lots of green on the edges and looks to be an old repaint on the dial, but it wound, set and ticked. Jeweler gave it to me as a freebie and I sent it up to my watchmaker. It's returned from service with a new mainspring and is keeping solid time. I have some 16mm straps coming in for it. With the inscription, it meant a lot to somebody back in the day, serial number in low 9m dates to circa 1939 so maybe a war years gift. It's my first pre-war Omega wristwatch and I look forward to wearing it.
