I was bidding that but had to stop because pictures weren't good enough to justify the risk. Those MK1s are really special and rare watches so I hope you enjoy it in good health.

Thank you for your kind wishes! It went for a little more than I wanted to pay in all honesty, but I’m quite glad I won it and I’m very pleased with the condition. I think it’s going to clean up well.

I have had watch hands get infected by mold, and the mold spreads only within one of the lume plot segments, gradually making it darker. It doesn't even cross over to the other lume segments in that same hand. Most likely, your lume is all original. However, if you don't like the way it looks, you can get it all re-done, but I don't recommend it.

You were bang on the money @Dan S. Watchmaker put this under UV and the lume is all original.

Congrats on the sweet pickup. I may be in the minority here but I wear my 1680 and 1675 on five-digit oyster bracelets. I find them so much more comfortable and less rickety than the period correct four digit rivet or jubilee. Something to consider...

Thanks! I’ve considered a 93150 with 580 endlinks. Is that what you have on your 1680?

@airansun, that is a beautiful example! Hope mine cleans up as nicely.

Thanks @ex-rolex and @AWBaker! Really want to keep it as original as possible. Maintains the charm of a watch that was well used for its intended purpose. The safe queens don’t interest me much.

Very nice indeed. Are those new hands or did you get them colour matched to the dial?

I found some NOS hands. Can’t believe how lucky I got with the color match. Held on to the originals of course.
