Thoughts on this one? Dial and hands look original to me and in good condition. Not sure whether the crown is original. Case Is polished but I’ve seen a lot worse. Serial dates it to 1964 which I believe is correct for a 551.

Crown looks right to me. Dial is a bit yellowed and spotted. Case has been over polished.

If you can live with the dial and price is under $1K, then it’s a decent buy.

serif's and "n's" are spot on and I don't see rotor wear from this one pix.

Does the rotor hide any evidence of moisture damage?

Throw your hat down a few times in negotiations, if you like the case and dial.

And get written evidence of service and call the watchmaker.......

Not perfect, but I think it’s a good example and a reasonable buy. I think that I can get the price down a bit.

I could be ok with the dial at the right price. But the case ... no.

"Reasonable" is for 2am closing times. This one night costs $1k not 3 drinks.
Don't settle unless you like it, more and better are out there.

    well, you ask for opnions:D

Lol, fair enough, but I actually do like it at under $1k. I’ve seen a lot of pie pan Connies at twice this price that are pretty beaten up.

You could hang out for one which has not been buffed as much as this, but sharper ones are getting really hard to find.

It would be pretty attractive at $900 if you can get the seller down, and if you subsequently find something better you could move this on one at that price without much trouble.

Good watch. Good price. I would buy it. Although I'm not a gold furniture guy.
