1610/930 Speedy Style Bracelet on New SMP Diver?

If this question has been brought up before, I apologize for asking again. I was curious if anyone has tried installing the older 1610/930 bracelet from a 2254 style case on the new Omega Diver. The lugs on the new Diver look fatter, but I'm thinking it could be done with modification to the 1610/930 end links? I will be getting the new SMP on a rubber strap after Christmas. I would like to have a metal bracelet option, but the new metal bracelet on the new Diver is horrendous in my opinion.

I have answered my own question. After modifying the end links of the 1610/930 bracelet, I was able to get this bracelet to fit the new SMP. It involved removing the tabs that hold the end links in place under the lugs. Using the original spring bars from Omega, it fits snug enough to work with the new case design, but not perfect. I’ll order new end links for the 1610 bracelet to put it back to original condition. If end links are not available, I’ll just order a new bracelet for my old faithful 2254.
The metal bracelet on the new SMP is awful and was obviously an afterthought or was outsourced altogether to some manufacturer that didn’t care.

That looks pretty nice, but the endlinks may need some work. I’ve tried the Uncle Seiko 1450 as an alternative to the OEM bracelet, but I always go back to the original.

I know it’s bulky and heavy (and doesn’t taper), but it’s iconic. The clasp is huge, but it serves a purpose. Try a snugger fit on the OEM, it could wear better that way. What don’t you like about it? Because from a manufacturing perspective it’s solid. The engineering on the bracelet is impeccable.

I agree, the new bracelet on these SMPs look like crap to me. Perhaps a PO bracelet and end links would fit better?
