1601 dial check

Hi everyone, I have this Datejust from 1966, but I'm not sure if the dial is original. Some people say it is, other don't.
The lume at the bottom seems to be replaced. But apart from that, I'm not sure about the dial itself.

The distance between the R and the O seems large, and I'm not sure about the C in officially. Then again, I did come across a few other models that seem to have the same distance/writing of the C.

Curious to hear your feedback. While I've gotten more used to spotting redials for Omega, I'm completely new to Rolex.

The 8h lume dot looks strange. No other obvious red flag for me...

It is not obvious to me, if it is a redial it is well made. I am not a Rolex expert so I can't tell you if it is a service dial or an original.

This is not a sub so the financial incentive to make a very good quality fake dial is not there yet imho... Original dials can be found.

I could be wrong but my gut feeling is that this dial is original, with two lume plots replaced / touched up. They may have just fallen off at some point.

Can I ask what's for you the reason thinking it?

Font, spacing, 2 lume plots replaced minute track doesn't line up with hour marker at 11, 1, 2, 3, 4 etc

I'd ask another picture. Maybe, but parallax can really throw you off. And misaligned original dials do exist.

I would need better pictures including some macros of the writing but I am going for not original.

I tend to err towards this view - it's a 60s era dial, so misalignment isn't even rare, just marginally uncommon, at least in the examples I've seen. Lume has definitely been touched up.

My vote would be a touched up but not falsified or completely redone original, possibly the same but OEM vs. original.

It’s a nice looking watch, it’s not going to appeal to most collectors due to the dial touch-ups and the refinished case, but it’s nice looking and to anyone wanting to wear an all gold DJ as a daily- it would be a nice piece.
Are you just mildly curious or are you looking for info in preparation to sell it?

I have it but preparing to sell. I was always thinking the dial was original, but wanted to double check before stating it explicitly. For now I will leave it in the middle.

The font is definitely off, all the lettering is redone for sure.

Thanks everyone for your insights. I'm happy to accept that it's probably redone.

If you are able to post some macros it will be easier to check the fonts, but space and minute track are definitely off.

I would love to..but I have sold the watch to a dealer (that has read this thread and plans to replace the dial). Sorry for that, but thanks for you advice!
