1479 bracelet - adjustability

Hi everyone,

First of all, I wanted to say hello to the forum.

I’m looking for my first Moonwatch and I’m currently leaning towards a neo-vintage ref. 3590.50 with the 1479 bracelet and 812 end links. Since I have a small wrist, I wanted to ask about the adjustability of this bracelet - can it be shortened enough to fit a 6 - 6.2 inch wrist?

I know that some vintage bracelets have limited adjustability due to having only a few removable links. How does it work with the 1479? How many links can be removed, and what’s the minimum possible bracelet length?

Thanks in advance!

Bottom line: it should size down just fine for a 6–6.2” wrist, using all removable links and the clasp micro-adjust.

A full-length 1479/812 on a Speedmaster is often around 18.5–19.3 cm overall length (watch head + bracelet). With all removable links taken out and the clasp in the innermost hole, the bracelet section alone can be brought down to about 13 cm. (just make sure the bracelet you buy is full-length or close to it!!)

Thank you! Does anyone actually wear the 3590.50 on a small wrist and could share their experience or thoughts on comfort?

I am a bit torn between this neo-vintage Speedy and the newest 3861. I could get the 3590 for around €4,000–€4,500 and the new model (post-2022, with micro-adjustment) for €5,500–€6,000. On one hand, I really like the vintage vibe, the “pumpkin” tritium markers, and of course the price is still quite attractive. On the other hand, I know the newest generation is a well-executed and refined modern design, and I don’t want to end up with an uncomfortable bracelet on my tiny wrist. Maybe someone has had the opportunity to compare them side by side - or has even swapped one for the other.

I don’t own a 3590.50, but from what I’ve seen, the older bracelets with male end links can make the watch wear longer in practice. Some owners with approx. 15.5cm wrists say the older bracelet can feel big

The 3861 bracelet is generally considered a big step up for smaller wrists thanks to the stronger taper and more articulated end links, and the late 2022/2023 updated clasp adds the missing micro-adjust.

I think 1479 bracelet drops straight down as soon as it leaves the lugs (not like the 1499/1498 male links). Maybe the you meant the latter one?

Actually, the newest bracelet looks like a 1479 to me but I assume there are some differences on their adjustability, hence the question.
