Hi Guys, just wanted to show you this beauty that was left behind by the postman yesterday.
It is a first owner 145.022 69 with a nice DON and a not so often seen Chrono second hand with a shorter tip, because the
lume filled triangle is situated nearer the end of the hand.
Everything seems to be original, even the crystal has the early Omega Logo.
It has a nice dark chocolate dial which is pretty hard to capture in picture maybe spacefruit can help me out how to do it. ;)
Interestingly it has a Ref 1098 Bracelet which is identical to the Ref 1116 which was mentioned in THE book.

Excellent bezel, all looks great. Second hand is interesting though, my 145.012 along with many later .012s had the flat bottom hand, so its surprising to see that on a -69

Thanks Dsio, i thought they mixed up all parts between 68 and 69 anyway.
I got a 145.022 68 which has a straight ended Chrono Hand too;)

I believe the spade bottom second hand started transitioning to the flat bottom in the middle of the production of 145.012-67 so I don't believe that it is original to that watch. Still a great looking watch and nice pair you now have:thumbsup:

well, i dont think that it was some kind of immediate changeover... they put together what was left.
That's why it also has a DON bezel.
As it is a first owner watch i really doubt that the hands have been changed, if that would have happened you would have found the newer chronograph hand with the flat tail,
furtheron all hands have the same Patina, so there is no reason to believe your point of view.
    Nevertheless .... anything is possible.

I've heard before that the 2911 serials often turned chocolate. My '69 has a 2911 serial but the dial is still a deep black, not even faded to dark grey like my '66.

Does anyone know how this happened? Was there a batch of faulty dials which appeared on only some 2911's and all these dials turned chocolate, or did a large number of 2911's have faulty dials but whether or not they turned chocolate was dependant upon thr environment they were in?

Lovely watch btw. I really like these '69s.

A 60's speedy, with pre moon case back stepped dial and DoN, but considerably cheaper than a 321 or even a proper transitional. Plus, they aren't all that rare so it's possible to get great examples at a decent price. Congrats!

It really is a beauty. The blue hue on the almost flawless bezel is most appealing.

    Hi Rene

    Great looking watch!.
Interestingly I have a 69 Speedy as well
My family has had it since new
It comes with a 1098 bracelet to.
I read the 1116 was the correct bracelet
The 1116 and 1098 seem identical?
Can you shed any light on this

    Thanks

    Con

My 145.022 is also a first owner watch, so good to know that there is another one with the same bracelet. 1098 and 1116 are identical, but i absolutely have no idea why there are two different refs

On modern bracelets a number next to the reference number of the bracelet divided by a slash is the ref number of the endlinks.

Thank you again for your reply
The vintage 1098 or 1116 bracelets are very hard to find these days
