I an in the search for a nice 145.022 / 69 came across this tropical example. shouldnt there be a DON bezel on this one?> seller claims its from late 69. asking € 8450
As all of us, you should take a look to this amazing site by @Spacefruit : http://speedmaster101.com/145-022-69/ Cheers.
Have a look at Speedmaster101. You'll need more photos than this to validate the watch properly Its overpriced
Depends on the serial. Most brown dial -69's are in the 2911xxxx range which should have a DoN, but later -69's can have the large Tachy DNN.
Wasn't the DNN introduced around the 30.5 million serial (later in the year 1970)? So a late 1969 specimen ought to be fitted with a DON.
Far from being tropical in my opinion. If taken in sunlight, the dial should look much more brownish to even be considered one. I also think this is way overpriced.
Hello guys, - A asking price is an asking price. But hé... you sell yours for almost nothing offcourse. - Tropical dials only in the 29xxxx range...? Hahahahahaha! - The dial is not tropical? Look at the picture, please. - The DON discussion is a modern thing. I bought the last 12 years at least 6 vintage first owner Speedmasters. Never had a DON bezel, never thougt about a DON bezel. But now days you act and talk like scientists about DON. - It's no secret, I found this watch without bezel (see picture). I posted the whole story on a Dutch forum. And yes, I put an old cool faded bezel on my watch with 2960xx serial. What's your problem? - Bashing on a picture without source listing is indecent in my book. But hey... have fun! With regards, Roel (aka Krabong)
If you're going to quote me and whine about it, perhaps you should get the quote correct? I said "most brown dial -69's are in the 2911xxxx serial range" and that was only in relation to whether or not the watch should have a DNN or DON. I was making no comment on the dial.
And while we're on the subject, going on the picture you posted, I don't think your asking price is far out at all in the current market as the dial looks stunning. But purely going on the OP picture, it doesn't look particularly tropical, hence, I assume, much of the discussion around the price.
There are brown dials from 1957 till far in the 70's in my book. I don't believe, after years of reading, looking live watches (not Google pictures) & buying and selling in strictly serial frameworks. I didn't quote you Davidt and I do not whine. And I didn't want a digital fight. But you're talking about my watch and here I am. With regards, Roel
Here another picture with a black OEM Omega bezel. But I didn't like it, to hard. I don't sell the watch, today I felt in love again. Have a nice evening! Roel
