Hello I need a little help. The lume on this Speedy is a little puzzling, it is very white. I inspected the watch today and the dial is original but the lume does not have the usual yellow-ish patina. Nor does it look like the lume is missing entirely (although I can't 100 percent be sure of that, since I have never seen a dial up close missing the lume). Are there examples of Speedy dial lume aging to an almost white? The watch is a 145.022-69. I didn't have a chance to take photos, so I only have this very bright one. Can anybody help?
Looks like it's been scraped to me. I'd generally expect a -69 to be yellowy/greeny, not stark white. The other possibility is maybe a more modern service dial? Hard to say without seeing more of the dial close up. Edit: maybe this page helps with other indicators? http://chronomaddox.com/speedy_dial_details.html
Have you seen this in person? The whole watch looks incredibly white, like the picture has been significantly brightened up. If however the markers are white in real life it's 99% that it's had the lume removed.
There's no way anyone can tell from that photo. It looks like it has been altered to be black and white.
Thanks. It is not my photo and didn't get a chance to take another. I have seen the watch in person and it is completely normal (just lousy photo) expect for the lume plots. From what you say it must be scaped. Dial is not a service dial. Guess it takes a chunk off the value. Too bad...
There's enough of these later 69's around that you can be patient and wait for a nice one at a reasonable price.
