This might be the only place on the entire internet where people treat each other with dignity and respect. I am amazed and appreciative. Thank you all.

A thought about the Great Bracelet Debate: I think, maybe, dad’s 145.022-68 might have needed a bracelet replacement after it was accidentally used as a resistor and turned bright orange while cooking the skin off his wrist. I’m not a watch collector. Or, I was not a watch collector until very recently. I’m thrilled to learn so many things and hear so many informative opinions. I plan to get the watch serviced and research all of my options thoroughly. I think I’d like to be able to make this a bit longer to fit my wrist so I can wear it as soon as possible and make it more “correct” as time and finances allow.
Maybe that’s why my multimeter has an Omega logo for checking ohms of resistance! 😉 It’s for testing bracelets!

To be 100% correct your watch the crown should be replaced too.

Cheers

UPDATE: Chronotek, Inc now has this in their queue for service. I drove 5 hours to drop it off and meet them face to face and that is how I intend to pick it up when it is ready. I have to say; they were incredibly thoughtful, kind, and accommodating. Thank you to all who suggested them. Also, thank you all for tips on finding a few links to add to the bracelet. You’ve all been very helpful and I appreciate it immensely.

I live 20 minutes from Chronotek. Have had a number of watches serviced by them. Michael is a wealth of knowledge and will really help you. I recommend them highly.

And… I changed my avatar to something more watch-like but with a personal twist. It’s the speedometer (aka “clock”) from one of my motorcycles that I happened to catch just as the odometer turned to 23456 and 7/10ths. I almost crashed trying to get off the road and stopped before I missed it. That bike now has over 45,000 miles on it but that seemed like a magical number to catch.

I stayed about 20 minutes away at the historic Doylestown Inn the night before I met with them. I met a new friend who is a driving instructor for folks who race exotic sports cars, if I remember correctly (I had already enjoyed a few drinks by then). Great experience all around. Can’t wait to go back and have another adventure.

I’m about 1.5 hours from Chronotek and have used them to service many of my watches. They are very sensitive to preserving the character of vintage watches and the owner, Michael, and his staff are about as good as it gets. Among many jobs that I’ve tasked them with was the restoration of my 1959 Constellation 14381:

They are also the only watchmakers that I trust with my Ranchero:

You won’t be disappointed with their work.

WOWSERS! Those are beautiful! I think I might drop off my grandfather’s pocket watch when I pick up dad’s wristwatch. I can see how this watch collecting could become somewhat of an obsession. I might have to sell off some of my other toys to afford it, though. Sorry, it’s not an Omega. I hope I didn’t cross any barriers with the forum rules. Maybe I should go back and review them? 🤔

Not at all. We have many members who collect multiple brands including Bulova. When you go to pick up your Speedmaster, PM me with a couple days notice and I’ll drive down and meet you for dinner if I’m in town. I can probably round up a few other members from the area as well. Always nice to meet another OF member face to face.

There is a lot of love for Bulova here. That pocket watch is really cool. Any idea of its age? Do you have pictures of the back? It might have a date code. A little bit of thread drift is pretty common here, so no worries.
