    Hi all,

Just saw this Speedmaster at a local place advertised as a 145.012 and in clear need of some TLC.
Although I'm not really looking to buy anything right now, I couldn't help but imagine what it would look like on my wrist.. ::facepalm1::

So I went home to do some research to ascertain if this is a nice enough watch.
All in all, the watch appears to be all original with expected signs of aging but in really good nick cosmetically. I couldn't get any shots of the movement or any info out of the seller at the time (was advertised as a c.321, naturally).

From behind the scratched crystal (forgot to check for logo but its not a dealbreaker), the dial appears to be in very nice condition — original and correct for ref — with even lume color throughout the indices and hands. These are also looking rather nice and crisp (warning sign?)

Here we can see the very nice condition of the DON bezel and general case sharpness as well:

The case seems pretty sharp and full, with minors scratches and a small dent on the top. The single-step caseback has a couple of slip scratches and a very visible hippocampus and logo.

The bottom pusher seemed a bit out as you could see the inner teeth (?) slightly. Sign of potential problems?
Both were a very rich shade of green on the insides :D. Crown also seems to be the correct for ref.

The bracelet, correctly marked as 1039 with matching 516 endlinks has obvious aging but the springs still had some bounce and weren't too bad. The clasp, however, caught me a bit off guard on the stamping. Looked a bit too 'crude', but then again I really have no experience with this vintage. Curiously, it was dated 2/66, but I have not been able to find any reference this early for such a clasp on my copy of MWO. Could it be a fake/repro?

So, what is the general consensus on this one, does it look correct/good enough? I have an 80s 145.022 which I love, but when is ever just one speedy enough?? :D

    Thanks in advance!

All looks good to me, including bracelet. Pusher is likely an easy fix, but see to it soon (if you buy the watch) before it falls off.

I think it ought to look pretty good once the crystal is cleaned up- be sure to check the movement though...

Overall, looks pretty good to me. Just have to check the movement serial number.

Are you sure the clasp is stamped 66 and not 68? It looks like a 68 to me.

Judging by the condition, it looks like a nice 'fresh out of the wild' watch. Not tampered with etc. Good vintage and if the price is right it's a yes from me.

Is the dial turning brown or it's just the light?

If the movement number is correct and the price is right as well - this one is a no brainer. It's very hard to find one in this condition::love::

Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated! I thought it looked good but never hurts to get a second (or 50) pair of eyes ;)

You are correct, it is 2/68 and not 2/66.

This is at local auction house that very sporadically sells some watches. Its listed with a (I think low) estimate of 2500-3500Eur plus fees etc.

Just got more info and it's a -67, with 250xxxx serial, so fits right within the range. And movement seems to looks pretty clean.

Will see how its goes and keep you posted! ::popcorn::

    Cheers,
    Lou

Good luck with the auction if you get it for the estimate it will be a steal ( and a surprise).
