Going through my small collection of speedmasters I noticed on my 145.012 that 2 of mine didn't look the same tonight. One has a totally different case and lug look to it. I opened it up and the case backs are not the same inside too. One is a 2.5 serial movement the other is a 2.7 movement both 321. Has anybody else noticed this?

Looks like someone went a little nutty with a polishing wheel

Looks to me like someone switched lids without thinking twice. One of them, the one to the left, should be markef CB inside and not HF

I think your grey strapped Speedie has a 105.012-66CB case. Check out speedmaster101.com for more info on the 105.012-66CB. While the dial on this watch is correct for the CB. The pushers appear to be for the later 145.012-67.

Both watches I bought right off the hands of original owners, but the had both been serviced once before. Does the case on the one look odd? bad polish job? or different maker?

Different makers. CB = Central Boite vs HF = Huguin Freres

The one to the left is made by CB but has a caseback from HF, so it's a mismatch

    Hi Nick,

Like maturx and Gemini4 had said, the left is a CB case with the flat facet that has been polished a bit. This case is found on the 105.012-66 and not on a 145.012, at least most of us have not seen it on a 145.012. It is not impossible to find a correct caseback but it may take some time, all depends on your luck I suppose. Try posting a request in the WTB section in the forum.
