145.0022 Serial Number question

I bought a 145.0022 with a serial number of 8731XXXX

The serial number on the case matches the number on the movement.

The serial number seems to be from a much newer watch

I have has a couple of people tell me that some 145.0022s were issued later but Ive never been able to find any information confirming that.

Any thoughts?

Every Speedmaster Moonwatch from around 1981 to 2021 has the case number 145.0022. It covers several models, prior to this the case number was 145.022. Most will have serial numbers in the 44-48m and 77-79m range. There are later serials used within the past few years but 87m is indeed weird if it is older than, say, 2018.
