    That UG 12 on top is new to me. Very, very nice. Even has a compass.

    All the glycine 12 on tops were Specials. Specials were 17 jewels for the US market, so all 12 on tops were US market.

    But according to Emre, the 12 on tops were also sold in base exchanges, making them targeted for the military. (Some were sold in Europe and Asia in a military store that was based there.) I haven't heard that they were exclusively sold in military stores, only that they were mainly sold in military stores. They may have been exclusive to a military exchange but that hasn't been stated yet that i know of.

    Again, that UG ::love::

    There you go! NOW it's a thread!

    Those indexes are wild. And the T above Tissot has a solid 60's vibe. Not sure if the lower half grey faded to that color but it's a nice shade.

    That is a fun watch. Makes me want to go to Cairo or Moscow or Calcutta.

    Here is another 24 hrs watch I have but in pocket watch form. A Elgin AN5740 issued to the US Army Air Corps in WW2 with metal canister that protected it from flack since the navigator used to for navigation in bomber aircraft.

    Nice eye candy. I can almost feel that leather strap. Great match up.

    So the only thing that's changing between the 12-top and the 24-top is the dial printing. The movement underneath doesn't know or care what's printed where on the top side, it's going to move the hands same as it did before, and likewise for the date disc.

    Same movement. The hour hand is installed at the midnight (23:59) position when the date change occurs.
    That is, you wind the movement in time setting until the date change starts, then you install the hands as required (up or down).
