Having found an 1170 bracelet, I need to find an extra link or two as well. As the main difference from the still available 1171 is the wider links at the end of the bracelet, I'm wondering if the 1171 spare links will slot into the 1170 too. The spare links go into the narrow end of the bracelet, which looks like it should be the same width on both.

Does anyone know enough about these bracelets to know if this will work ?

You must have paid attention enough to know not to ask what the difference between 1171 and 1170 is. :p

For my next question, does anyone know how to calculate the sine of a 1039 ?

Would it be completely futile for me to have another go at getting a sensible answer to my original post ?

sounds plausible. You may have to just go for it, or we will never know!

OK, there are two issues which may apply.

Some 1171 bracelets taper to 14-mm at the buckle, some are 16-mm.

Later 1171s have taper pins which hold the links in place earlier ones were screwed together.

So, if you have an 1171 and a 1170 which both have 16-mm buckles and both have the early style screw in links they will interchange.

Thanks. The 1170 is 16mm at the clasp with screw pins. I don't have an 1171, so was thinking of getting the modern links.

I don't think the modern links will work, since the holes for the taper pins are smaller than for the screws used on the earlier bracelets.

Hmm...sounds like it will be tricky.

It's looking like the best thing is for me to take it to the service centre, when I go to pick up my GMT from it's service, and see if they can help.
