105.012 advice

Hi guys, I am a Speedmaster newbie from Portugal so thanks for bearing with me!! I am thinking about this 105.012 shown on the pics. Asking price is 10.500euros. My 5cents, on the plus side: tropicalizing dial with consistent lume, strong case, good 1506/16 bracelet, portuguese import mark, average DO90. Minus: I estimate 1000-1500euros needed for wide neck pushers, new crown and new hands.
Any thoughts? Thanks a lot!

Dial body colour looks attractive.

It is damaged, blotchy in some parts, next to the AML and hour Subdial. Micro blisters too. All consistent with the colour and I am sure you have taken this colour/quality trade off into account. I like it for the right price, but you have to know it’s all there before you buy or the watch will feel like it’s deteriorating in front of your eyes. Which of course it isn’t. It’s just you didn’t see it all before.

The lume is a bit dirty, with the paint showing on the 7

Dial track and print is intact.

Case does indeed look good, and the rear bevel is in the right place. I would guess it is polished, but done properly. You haven’t shown the left side of the case which will give you a good idea of what has happened when you look at the finish.

The bezel while correct is not attractive to me. It looks like the print is blurred and the colour is off. It’s a personal thing and I think the price is reflecting it.

The hand lume is each a different colour. I don’t like the way the hands look and I would investigate. Not the end of the world.

Pushers are service replacement and while admire your attempt to quantify the replacements I don’t know where you actually get your hands on them. Last time I bought some they were £600 a set but I would buy more if I found them. They are also sometimes a challenge to fit. Not impossible, a challenge.

Crown is 32 tooth.

Bracelet is highly desired.

I’d like to see the movement, and the case back reference.

Barring any issues with those, I quite like it.

However I wouldn’t buy on those photos alone. The colour and appearance of the dial is pivotal to the assessment. Get daylight shots as well as more interior.

Investigate further. And check the availability of pushers. (I bet you have a line on them already?😉

Thanks a lot for your insight!! Attaching the only daylight pic I got (raining today in Lisbon...). Assuming inside caseback and movement check, and 1500€ allowance for new pieces incl hands, would you go for it at 10.500€ price?

I agree with @Spacefruit your assumptions about the prices of your wish list parts seem quite low... a nice set of hands is already a minimum of 900€ (3 hands) + flat foot crown 400/500€ + pushers 650/750€ + cost of your watchmaker (unless you are a watchmaker yourself) that makes in my opinion an expensive bill in the end

(Sorry, I have posted below instead of replied to your insight). I will try to convince him to change the bezel for the one on the 105.003 below - better dont you think?

the hands on 105.003 are nicer too, and at least the chrono hand is wrong for that model... maybe he'd swap those too?

Finally sunlight in Lisbon, so I was able to take some proper pictures of the brownie. Also movement and caseback reference!!

I don't like the dent at nine o'clock, but may you do. Also think further: can I sell it for the same price to someone else in e.g. 2 years? I think this one is not cheap.
