Yes. It was primarily the angled e's that were the main giveaway for me.

So I take it you also suspect that the Auction example is refinished?

Hi @skand

Did you see this thread before bidding?

The watch went for 3k Euro (incl. fees) which is the amount one would expect to pay for an original one, I would say.

If the dial hasn’t been refinished I think you did alright. If it has, I think you overpaid.

Would also love to get some other perspectives on the originality of the dial.

I was bidding on this watch too but I have to admit that I was not aware that it might be a redial.
The font is different but didn't Omega change the font style in this time period from time to time?

Congrats on winning the auction - I did not bid till the end as it went too high for my budget.

Yes there are a number of variations, but if you compare with similar references it's slighly different.

Also with these different variations, I still haven't seen any with the 'straight' e's from the auction example.

But I know enough about Omega dial variations now, to know, that I don't know enough, to be definitive about anything.

I haven't seen this thread before. I wanted to have a watch with this verk 321. The auction took place yesterday, my watch has not arrived yet. The dial is not repaired. I bought spontaneously, now I know coldly that I have given too much. Thank you for your interest in the topic

It's always good to do some research before purchasing. But luckily there is a 14 days return policy when you buy from online auctions in EU, so if you don't like it, you can return it.

I know that I can turn watch within 14 days, but I want to have one and the damage is to return. Repair will not be expensive, already checked. The condition of the watch looks great, only if it was not intrusive?

It would be an excellent Christmas gift if it turned out that the watch is not being refurbished. Currently it is in repair and service. I will take pictures after returning and place here. Thank you again!

I'm convinced that the dial of the Kaplans watch is correct and has not been refinished. Both of the discussed versions are legit IMO.

I just don't know what to believe anymore with these things and it's honestly putting me off buying any more vintage.

The subdial fonts in all three examples given are so inconsistent... and by that I mean from subdial to subdial within each example!

So is this inconsistency considered normal for an original dial?

Whatever the case... beautiful piece and I hope you enjoy your purchase! 😀

I actually bid on this watch (for a friend, albeit) and we discussed it quite a bit. Concencus among us two (and a couple more) was that the dial was correct.
I would say good purchase, nice watch!

Its a interesting dial, Southerbys omega expert used to work for kaplans so there is a connection betwen the 2 watches that surfaced.
Would be interesting whit a photo on the backside of the dial.

The watch is in repair, it will be back in two weeks, then I will deliver the pictures of better quality. Currently I have only these.
